MID-CENTURY Handmade JAPANESE 4 Strand ABALONE SHARD CHOKER + CLASP NECKLACE

Handmade from lustrous, iridescent, and reflective apricot-colored abalone shard "beads" with round gold spacer beads. The carved abalone clasp closes with “hook and chain” attached by brass hardware. The gold tone metal hook is marked “Japan” which was famous in the 1950/60's for its artistic abalone and pearl jewelry. The necklace circumference when clasped is 13 ½ inches, and the drop at the center from the top strand to the bottom strand is 3 ½ inches. Excellent condition especially since it is well over 60 years old.
