The ‘chintz’ patterns in chinaware were named for their resemblance to the floral-patterned cotton fabrics of the same name. Their popularity was part of the ‘cottage decorating’ trend that became a fashion item in the 1920’s and continued well into the 1950’s.
This is a vintage plate in the ‘Mille Fleurs’ pattern from James Kent Ltd. It features an all-over floral pattern on the rim in vivid shades of gold, pink, and blue on a white ground. It is approximately 9 inches wide, and is in excellent condition, without cracks, chips, scratches, stains, or any other damage or defect.
