Description 🌼 A charming little blond boy with tousled hair in a traditional German suit and a pipe under his arm. The figurine was made according to the drawings of M.J. Hummel in West Germany. Judging by the markings, the figurine was made from 1960 to 1972.
Bertha Hummel (who changed her name to Maria Innocentia) lived less than forty years, but left an indelible mark on art due to the fact that her drawings dedicated to children were used to produce figurines that preserved the original style of the artist. Franz Goebel, who then owned the manufactory "W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik GmbH & Co", saw her drawings and decided to create a series of small painted figurines based on them in 1934. The figurines became extremely popular, at least one of them could be found in every second German family. American soldiers who were in the occupation zone bought them as souvenirs and exported them en masse overseas, where these figurines also became widespread.
