Marimekko's Iso Unikko 60 Anniversary mugs are decorated with an oversized version of the iconic flower pattern designed by Maija Isola. The mug(s) celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Unikko print (in 2024), & with a special stamp on the bottom to mark the anniversary. A rare find & collector's dream! The story behind the pattern: Maija Isola created it in 1964 after Armi Ratia (founder) had publicly announced that no floral fabrics would be printed at the design house. Isola didn’t accept these rules & restrictions &, in protest, ended up designing an entire collection of bold floral patterns. One of these designs was Unikko – which quickly became a favourite of Ratia, too. Today, Unikko is one of Marimekko's best-known and most beloved patterns worldwide. A Finnish co.
