Mary Gregory glass is a style of Bohemian glass first produced in Europe in the 1870s. It features hand painted enamel fired onto glass, and usually features children in some sort of outdoor play. In this case the girl has a butterfly on her hand.
I am no expert in Mary Gregory, so I am unable to date this. It appears to be older, as it is a thin glass with bubbles in the glass. There are feathered trees surrounding the central female figure, who is dressed in Victorian fashion. There is a very faint gold rim at the top and along the bottom ridge that is very worn (I didn’t even see the bottom edge gold right away) which I have tried to show in last two pictures. Otherwise in excellent condition with no cracks or chips.
Questions? Please ask and I will do my best to answer them. Please note that almost everything I sell is vintage and pre-loved. I try to describe the items accurately and note any damage where I see it.
