When Massimo Alba launched his own brand in 2006, he was known for being the creative director of brands like Agnona and Malo. In his own words, his clothes are, "made to feel comfortable when wearing them, enriched with tailored details, authoritative colors and a decontracté aesthetic which is the result of a process that removes all stiffness and severeness even from the most iconic garments."
This gem of a buttoned blazer does Indeed incorporate that aesthetic - the jacket has no lining, but the internal seams are all beautifully bound and finished with contrasting white seam binding. No bulky shoulder pads, just beautifully subtle tailoring. The black and blue jacquard fabric is a textured weave with an abstract pattern reminiscent of metal oxidation.
I'm not crazy about the choice of buttons, but Alba uses these exact same buttons for basically every item they sell - I'm guessing because they're authentic buffalo horn or something. And they do give a cohesive look to the entire line. Fortunately, buttons are easily replaced - had this jacket actually fit me, I would have probably replaced them, but I'll leave that choice up to whoever takes this home.
Fits true to size for a US XL, or probably size 14, but please check the measurements below to confirm fit.
