My Grandmother, Dorothy Barraclough, was a respected artist in Alberta from the 1970s - 2000’s. She painted in mostly oil and watercolour.
This piece is of blooming water lilies on a pond. My grandparents spent a lot of time camping in BC and Alberta & my grandmother often painted landscapes and waterscapes she came across so I’m unsure where exactly she painted this. Sometimes she took a picture and worked from it, sometimes she painted on location, sometimes she worked using a combination of both practices.
This lovely piece is matted and just needs a frame to finish it off. It’s absolutely gorgeous!
Unfortunately, between the bulk of her art, and now, my own art, I just don’t have enough wall space to keep it all.
My Grandmother & I both believed in making original art accessible to the general public. Forget the outrageous high end gallery prices. Art is for everyone. I hope the prices shown on the art I have available, and will be adding more of, seem fair & reasonable given the time and effort that goes into original art. If you desperately want a piece but it’s out of your price range please don’t be shy about asking for price negotiations.
