There are small gray spots inside the mug, but they do not look like marks from a spoon. Most likely, this is a small manufacturing defect. On the opposite side is a flowering plant. The designer's name is written on the inside of the handle. The mug is made of fine china. Microwave, oven, dishwasher safe.
