44 years old, this vintage crochet book is hilarious. Models of the 70’s crochet outfits include Susan Day (Partridge Family) and Cheryl Tiegs (Charlie’s Angels/Sports Illustrated). One of the images (b/w photo included in the description) even looks like Janet Leigh, but I can’t confirm this because they don’t give credits for the models.
Book does not build on Volumes 1 - 3. The “how to” instructions start from scratch.
There are some of the ugliest clothes I have ever seen in this book. Would any man be caught dead in a crochet double breasted suit jacket? That is so much worse than a sweater vest. But also some very useful patterns particularly the children’s wear, toys, blankets and hats and scarves.
About the book. It is a thick magazine so it was meant to be disposable. At 44 years old the spine has some damage and the back cover has a huge crease in it and a coffee cup and spilled coffee stain on it (see last photo). But other than yellowed pages, the inside has no writing on it or any other significant damage. The binding has not been cracked and all pages are secure.
2/28/24 - my dog decided that the cover would taste great (we have a passive aggressive struggle for supremacy going on today and she is winning). Please see the last photo for the damage sustained. The cover photo of the double breasted jacket has not been harmed!
Haven’t you always wanted to crochet yourself a poncho? A vest? An entire dress? Seize the day!
