Hi 😄 My name is Lauren and I am from Chicago. I have studied abroad twice. First in Greece and then in New Zealand ✈️. I met the love of my life & now husband 💍when I studied abroad in Greece a little over three years ago 💕. I graduated in May 2015 and moved to Santorini, Greece for 14 months to be with him. travelbugginger I agree. Traveling can be addictive! :) To reply to you, we road tripped occasionally and made it to some of the islands, but home base was always Glyfada (which used to be a mellow suburb of Athens). My dad was in intl public health so we moved abroad when I was young and traveled the world for years. I became a flight attendant later so kept traveling.

travelbugginger Met my husband 5 yrs ago & between getting married, returning to school & other life circumstances, haven't been abroad sense. No complaints though... Love my quiet life with him and our pupppy dogs. He's a European History Prof though, so also loves to travel & we'll be headed to Italy in a few months w/ a group of students for a semester. Plan to travel a bit after the students head home, too. WooHoo! :)

georginawalker @weichln We only were in Athens then Two weeks in Santorini. We were married in Imerovigli at the Astra Resort....it is quite amazing. Magical really💗💗💗 I would love to visit some of the other islands. I think it is so romantic you found your Love there💞💍he is very handsome 💝💓

amt154 @weichln I was in Santorini for a week, Athens for two weeks, and Poros for a week with a day trip to Hydra thrown in. I was in a recent alumni tour group for my university for part of that trip, then traveled on my own after. I actually met my boyfriend (also an American) on that trip, and we've been together going on three years now. So now we always say if you want to find love, you should travel! ☺️ sounds like it worked for you too!!

amt154 @weichln and when we got back to the US, I was off to law school on the east coast and he was heading home out west. He's been putting up with a stressed and sleep deprived grad student since day one so I know he's a keeper and a good man! I almost didn't make the trip and I'm so thankful every day that I did. Can you imagine how less full our lives would be if we didn't travel? We are so blessed!

islandofstyle I agree! I was fortunate to grow up in Europe when I was little. We traveled all over I loved it! My favorites were Greece and Spain! But I loved it all! The food, art, architecture all fabulous!!! I guess that's why I truly dislike staying in one place very long! I get the itch to go somewhere. ✈️

For Athens, Athens status suites is a great hotel or anywhere near Acropolis, plaka or syntagma square. Close to syntagma, there is an amazing shopping area. Go to the monostraki area for cafes and restaurants like 360. Go see the Acropolis of course 😄Avoid the Omonia neighborhood

santorinigirl @nicole_1024 for Santorini, go everywhere! Haha 😄 but realistically, all the beaches are amazing. Red beach and perissa beach are a must. Go see the sunset at Oia. Also, go to fira for coffee, shopping and food. Akrotiri has great archeological sites. Zafora, idol restaurant and rastoni are all amazing restaurants by the caldera.

Buses go everywhere on the island but it might be better and cheaper to rent an ATV 😄if I think of anything else or you have any other questions, just ask 💕🌷 Jojo beach bar, wet stories and also chili are some nice places to go to in perissa by the beach. Clubs/bars to go to include highlander, murphy's and koo club which is our favorites in fira 💜

santorinigirl @urbanlove Yes, retiring there would be perfect! It sucks because if you live and work there, it can be expensive because you are not making much. Rent is only about 300-500 euro per month but you are paying tourist prices for everything else. But if you make good money here and then move to Santorini, you can buy a huge house for around 200,000 if you don't want to rent! :)

santorinigirl @urbanlove I completely understand, it does have a home-like feeling to it. It is also probably because the life is so different from America. It is slower paced and everyone goes for coffee all the time and relaxes. SO nice. Dimitri and I hope to buy a house there one day and maybe open a hotel. Maybe we will be neighbors in the future! :)

Everything is wonderful about Okinawa and I miss everything about it. Especially the ramen house 🍜!! I definitely wouldn't mind visiting Greece. It sounds amazing there too.
