bootr I have a couple questions on listing service and such. I'm trying to get my closet started. But I'm not feeling so hot lately. I was under the impression that only women's clothes were to be listed. But I see a lot of kids and men's clothes. Plus books and household things. Doesn't pm monitor things? I was planning on listing other stuff on merc.

luckymia @bootr PM doesn't allow men's or kid's clothes but some people do anyway, I wouldn't because if your closet isn't "compliant" others won't share your listings sometimes.

bootr @luckymia I read the rules or etiquette and figured there are other sites I can sell kids clothes and household stuff on. I just thought I'd ask if people tend to follow the rules or not. I ordered a mannequin from ebay and it's taking forever to get here. I was wanting to get my closet going before I can't fit into my stuff to take pictures.

luckymia @bootr Yeah, a lot of people just don't know the rules I think but the ones who do will not follow you or share if you don't follow them but sometimes no one will tell you that. I only learned about no kids stuff recently. Mannequins are great! I can't really model anymore since I had my baby and don't fit into most of my clothes 😞

luckymia @bootr First off, sorry to hear that. Photos and listing are the least fun thing to do on here. Now do you mean they don't work like they don't look good or technically something is not working like uploading or something? What I found works best is if it is something name brand and you can find a photo of it online do that! If it is something you can't find online lighting is everything. Outside in natural light when the sun is kind of heading down so it isn't too bright is best.

And to top it off when the wedding finally happened I was 7.5 months pregnant!!! poshmaymay Oh one thing I did want to ask, do you recommend shopping with Chinese whole sellers, I'm having a lot of trouble finding wholesellers here with pieces I love and would be proud to sell at reasonable prices. There OK items usually start at $20 which means I would have to mark them up to $60 or so to make any profit, and realistically some of them I would not even spend that much on

luckymia @poshmaymay I think 90% of Chinese Wholesale items are junk. I filed so many disputes on one platform that I got permanently kicked off. 😂 I am currently working towards finding more high quality vendors to work with. Most require a business license (super easy to get). You'll find your niche...keep following and sharing in the meantime!

You know I started selling stuff in my closet for fun and didn't try really hard at this until my daughter was born exactly for the reason you said--to be near her. I was a HS English teacher previously. You have an edge since you work in fashion and have the knowledge that brings.

luckymia @rosiec1017 Creating an online boutique is totally doable and there is no overhead like there would be opening a shop. I do buy wholesale and resell. The key is to get as many followers as you can because that is when your sales will increase. 1) Share your closet ALOT, 2) Add new things as often as you can, 3) Follow other people and lastly join share parties if you can find the time.
