I am a fashion fanatic and especially love Free People, Wildfox, Anthropologie and anything eclectic. I am a single parent to a beautiful and smart 11 year old named Hollis. I am on Poshmark to help with the exorbitant amount of medical bills I have because I was diagnosed with CML ten years ago. It is a form of leukemia and I take a chemo pill daily, named Sprycel that is very expensive. I am so fortunate that I found a place to make new friends, money, and clean out my closet. ๐Ÿ˜

waselman @wesleymatch I am doing fabulous. The chemo I take came out Two years before I was diagnosed. Would only have a 8 to 12 month survival if not for the drug I am on. Stem cell transplant was not an option because my brother was not a match but I am seriously one of the lucky ones. Hollis is a miracle really. Email me sometime waselman at gmail.

waselman @wesleymatch Forever. Unless they find a cure. The drug costs 120 thousand a year but I pay 120 a month with my insurance. What type of cancer did your mother have? I am a CT tech and no all about everything cancer related. My daughter hollis was an absolute surprise and miracle.
Mar 14Reply
waselman
waselman @wesleymatch I'm sure girl. Losing your mother is devastating. I lost my dad in 2002 and it still feels like yesterday.

wesleymatch @waselman well she had it from head to toe lungs liver bone...it spread really fast....can anyone be a steam giver? I don't know how to say that...I will give you mine if it would work....I have a friend that needed a kidney we were a match I was gonna give it to her and at the last min she got a phone call from Galveston she had to rush there and it doing awesome now....your daughter is beautiful....I know you are glad to have a little you....

wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman how old are you....does it run in your family....
Mar 14Reply
waselman
waselman @wesleymatch you are so sweet. Your sibling is the best match for a stem cell transplant. I am doing great on gleevec. The side effects of the chemo drug are worse than the leukemia. My immune system is shot too so when I get sick , I get really sick. But I have been so fortunate.
Mar 14Reply
waselman
waselman @wesleymatch It is not heriditary. I am 42 and cml usually runs in older people. There is a girl who wrote for Glamour Magazine,Erin Zammet, who has almost the same story. Google her.
Mar 14Reply
wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman awww I hate that for you....you have been good so far? I bet so ....when your body has to have med to survive it can be such a battle though....your mom not a match for you?
Mar 14Reply
wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman I'm gonna have to read up on it....
Mar 14Reply
waselman
waselman @wesleymatch She would never be. Your siblings are your best bet. It is genetic. I am German and American Indian. So someone with those genes would be my match.
Mar 14Reply
wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman how far are you from Pensacola?
Mar 14Reply
waselman
waselman @wesleymatch you can become a blood marrow donor by going to the leukemia and lymphoma society website. LLS.org.
Mar 14Reply
wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman ooooo....ok...
Mar 14Reply
wesleymatch
wesleymatch @waselman I give blood often....I know it's different though....I sure can do it...I know it's painful but I can handle it...

october112406 @waselman I was reading the comments and I live in winter haven/ lakeland area and Ive got German and native in me..how would I go about finding out about being a match? My grandfather passed away from Adrenal gland and Bone cancer in June of this past year. The doctors gave him three months but he went in three weeks.. I was adopted and I know nothing about my biological families medical history..do you think I could find out by trying to become a possible donor?
Mar 18Reply
waselman
waselman @october112406 That is one of the sweetest gestures ever. Go to bethematch.org and check it out. Honestly, I am doing so well on Gleevec, my chemo drug, that I would not want to take the chance of the transplant. They practically kill you before they transfer the marrow to you. And there are so many complications including host graft complications and you are practically in a bubble for six months. There are other sites to check out too. Just google bone marrow registries and you can give blood and then they put you in the registry. After my brother was not a match for me, they just put him in the registry. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Wish the world had more people like you๐Ÿ˜Š

october112406 @waselman A friend of mine has a three year old daughter and she has leukemia but I can't remember what kind so I'm trying to learn more and more about it as much as possible. I will definitely check out the website.
Mar 18Reply
waselman
waselman @october112406 There are four types of leukemia: ALL, CLL, AML, and CML. Children normally develop ALL, which stands for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I have CML which stands for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. My leukemia is actually a chromosome that is mutated called the Philadelphia chromosome. It is a lot of complicated medical terms but in general they think you are born with it and certain conditions make it known. Mine was STRESS. At the time of diagnosis I was majorly stressed with the passing of my father so young and other factors. Mine was found at my OBGYN office when I told her I was tired and she did regular blood work. Crazy huh?
Mar 18Reply
october112406
october112406 @waselman That's the one I was thinking of..the ALL.. She is in the hospital today and gets to come home tomorrow if all goes well today and I made her a beanie. I hope she likes it.. It's purple with a white heart, a pink flower and a green four leaf clover. My friend said she's got a bald spot now and I wanted to try to make her feel more comfortable when she's in the hospital. There's a thing I found on Facebook called Wigs For Kids and when my hair gets long enough I'm going to cut it and donate it to them so someone can have some hair and feel better about what's going on..
Mar 18Reply
waselman
waselman @october112406 You sound like a great friend!!Please tell her I will pray for her and make sure her mother knows all the benefits that the LLS has for patients. They are a great organization and help pay for a lot of my outrageous medical costs.
Mar 18Reply
october112406
october112406 @waselman What does LLS stand for? I will let her know..I know I appreciate it and I know she will too. You are in my prayers as is your family.
