Hey, I'm Kayla! I'm a nurse by trade & a mother by heart. I have two children: a 3 year old baby girl & a forever 4 year old little angel, Landyn. My son was diagnosed with brain cancer in February 2013 & passed away in January of 2014. My beautiful angel son inspires EVERYTHING that I do. I now dedicate my life to the service of others as a nurse in the medical surgical unit of a small town hospital. My children & my career are my life. 🎈Proud suggested user 7/12/17🎈

I've worked almost every day for the past two weeks (12 hours of med surg) & when I feel like I really just can't handle any more, I have to stop and think about how he would be cheering his mama on. He loved telling people that his mommy was going to be a nurse. And that's exactly what I have to remember to make it through a lot of rough shifts.

vanessassales I also lost my son in 2007. It's been a long and very hard journey for me to accept. I still had my first born little girl at the time who was 18 months old, and then had another daughter 2 years later. They are now 11 and 7, and between them and my wonderful and also very strong thru all this Husband, they are my everything. But first God, because without His guidance, strength,and mercy, i would not have made it.

But it helps to know that he still inspires people in so many ways. You never know what can happen; life is short. Sometimes shorter than we realize. We never know how much time we have to hold our loved ones...we just assume it will be for a lifetime...

vjrorrer @kaylabrooke90 I'd been a nurse for 26 years. It seemed I was kinda stuck doing nothing but geriatric/LTC. So a couple years ago, I took a different path in the medical field. I'm a degreed & newly AMT certified Medical Laboratory Technician! I'll be taking an ASCP Certigication Exam in Aug. Why 2? ASCP is the preferred laboratory professional credential. I hear it's much harder.

Not sure where I'm going to end up working, but I'm hopeful. 😄 Just take care of you, so you can do your absolute best for your little girl, and all the people who come under your care!😊

thing2and3 I'm so very sorry for your loss. I was diagnosed of brain cancer 2006. Was a children's CTICU nurse. I thank God everyday that I have it and not my girls. It brakes my heart when I hear that children get any kind of cancer. Never could deal with kids having cancer.

alainadanielle @kaylabrooke90 I'm sorry to hear about your son. I'm actually a Cancer survivor myself & I lost my older brother to Neuroblastoma when he was just 15 mos old. I never got to meet him because my parents were pregnant with me when he passed away. 😥 I'm a nursing student. I have a semester & a half left. I have worked in nursing since I was 16! I started passing medications when I was a sophomore in HS. I'm now 30! I am going to be a Hem/Onc Nurse, even though I work in Cardiology.

zoesmom70 I'm so sorry for your loss. I have had 2 boys but one I gave up for adoption when he was 3 days old. It's not the same as you but it's still a loss. Being that I'm adopted I know that there are so many people who deserve to have kids and can't. So I gave them a gift. You are truly inspiring. I wish you all the best. On another note I saw the date u have for being a suggested user and thought u might want to change the year. Everyone whose life u touch is better for it.
