Hi! I'm Jeannette. I am currently transitioning from the corporate world to freelance editing, so I am looking to sell much of my corporate wardrobe, and also some casual clothing. I have been listing things on Facebook Marketplace and have been having good success there, but I want to offer some items to a larger market than we have here in Halifax, NS. Thanks for stopping by! jco_clothes @missiede She is! Deanna, my name is Jeannette, and I am new to this, so if you have any comments on my prices or how I'm branding things, please let me know. I would welcome all feedback. I am going to list my higher-end pieces first, and see how I do. I am starting out with prices at 1/3 of retail, but will reduce them overtime if they aren't moving.

jco_clothes I have some of my things listed on Facebook Marketplace, but because I am small size and I live in a small city - Halifax, Nova Scotia - I am thinking that this might be a better platform for some of the nicer pieces. How are you doing with sales on Poshmark? Apologies in advance if I'm bugging you.

missiede @jco_clothes hi, so nice to meet you! I’m a bit on the new side too but not as new. I’ll try to give you some tips. The more followers you can get and the more people you follow, the larger the market opportunity for you to sell your items. Don’t be discouraged as it takes some time to build that and a lot of persistence.

missiede @jco_clothes If you get into a difference of opinion, or a mistake is made on your end or others in buying or selling, it’s always better to approach it with tactful honesty and kindness, things go a lot smoother that way and you’ll find most people in this community are really great to work with.

missiede @jco_clothes Poshmark has specific days called “clear out closet days”. This is the time to lower all your items by 10% and Poshmark will lower their thumping to $9.99 instead of $12.99 which makes your item more likely to sell.

missiede @jco_clothes You will know which days they are because there will be an advertised banner at the top screen on Poshmark the day before the event.

missiede @jco_clothes Note that after “clear out closet” days, you have to manually put your prices back to the original price because if you don’t, the next time there is a closet clear out, and you have to drop prices by 10% again to offer lower shipping, you are then actually lowering your prices 20% and so on each time you forget to change your prices back to the original.

missiede @jco_clothes Hope that makes sense! When people like one of your items, it’s your opportunity to offer them a private offer (your best possible price) to help sell items. You don’t always have to send an offer, but most sells will come from that. Combine an offer with closet clear out and people will love the savings.

jco_clothes I think I will be able to resist the urge to buy for now, as I am really doing a massive closet purge. I am transitioning from corporate to freelancing, so I am going to get rid of most of my business clothes. I am having some success locally, but as I said, I think some items will do better on here. I agree with describing the items in detail. That is the only downside I have seen so far - they don't allow enough characters to do that.
