jennarenee7 @memkim how exciting!! Where are you going to medical school? I'm in residency at University of South Florida. I'm in my third year as a Med-Peds resident. One more year and I'm done!!! The first year of residency was such an adjustment! The hours are so long, but I had such a great support system here. The work load lightens up quite a bit after first year. What are you thinking of going into?

memkim Thats so amazing! Are you loving it so far?? :) im seriously considerind peds or doing preventive medicine but I'm pretty open to anything at this point :) all I know for sure is I'm definitely not interested in surgery, or like pathology or radiology hahaha I'd go crazy

jennarenee7 I do love it! I think I like internal medicine a tad more than Peds but can't live without either. Best advice I can give you is to keep an open mind during your 3rd and 4th year school rotations and do what you love, so you wake up excited to go to work everyday!

memkim @jennarenee7 why is that? :) is internal med a little more intellectually stimulating than peds? I've always heard the kids are amazing but then it can be difficult to deal with the parents at times :/

jennarenee7 @memkim For me, that's exactly it. It's more intellectually stimulating and there is much more autonomy in internal medicine. The parents can especially be difficult to deal with. I think once I'm a parent, I may be more understanding of it, but right now... 😡

memkim Oh really?? I didn't know there was a difference in the autonomy standing between the two, that's really good to know. And yea, I could definitely see that being a pain lol that's kind of where my concern lies at the moment, but every peds doctor I've met just seems so so happy so maybe they warm up to you once they have you established as their child's pediatrician? Haha I don't know for sure, but I'm sure it will brighten up for you soon :)
