mauishopgirl @fabicase Nice to meet you too! Wow, Texas! One of my friends Dani Salazar (my very 1st friend, we met when we were 4) lives near Houston and I know she gets homesick a lot too. I was born in San Angelo but we never lived there really (my dad was in the army and I was born on base). I miss Honolulu too even though I'm supposed to be a Maui girl! Miss playing tennis at Kailua Racquet, the bamboo forest of Manoa Trails, the ono Japanese food and of course, Ala Moana! Especially having a coffee with friends at Neiman. I hope you get to make a trip home soon.

They're my mom's but I live in a suite attached to their house so I'm like they're big sis. There are Moi pics on my IG if you're on that too, same handle.

mauishopgirl @shoogal82 Probably not this year but I'm hoping it becomes an annual thing. Vegas is a great location though for me, very easy to get good airfare deals from Hawaii. Not to mention hotel deals too. Wanted to go to so many events next year but Vegas could be squeezed in since it's affordable (compared to say NYC) so we'll see.

I wish I had seen it on Gilt when they had it but I had to ween myself off of checking Gilt every day for awhile because I bought too many things I didn't need more of (now I check Posh every day!). Part of my Fam visited (now please don't laugh because I'm not familiar with Hawaii & their names & I didn't do the driving) but last Sept My Mother-In-Law gave us a pd trip to Hawaii for 8 days for our Wedding Anniversary. So my Husband was thinking crowds & he doesn't like crowds-so he picks a slew far away from everything(Literally everything) I know we flew to Honolulu, the name Waikiki rings a bell though, the place he chose to stay at was Turtle Bay Resort & I know we went to Kualoa Ranch because I got me a T-shirt from there! We went to their ranch to go on their bus tour before we left but it was too long of a wait & we still wanted to go to Pearl Harbor, then get to airport for our plane ride home. It was a great trip, if you like being that secluded. I got homesick being away from the rest of my family, if they all came, it would've been great. It was just so far away from any kind of fast foods. Yes I'm a fast food Junkie when on vacation. But I read to get to any of the other Islands, you have to catch a jet plane to get there? Is that True? Sherry

mauishopgirl @sherry8888 Aloha! Yes, Turtle Bay is way out in the country, not much going on there. For the next trip, if you don't want crowds but also want access to dining and activities, I'd recommend Maui. It's not a city like Honolulu but we have a big enough population and tourist base to support dining and other activities like concerts and film festivals. Maui also has the most whales during whale season IMHO. For the most part you have to fly to the other islands but you can ride an affordable ferry from Maui to Lanai to take a day trip as we're so close. I have the same handle Mauishopgirl everywhere so I'm easy to find except I'm not on tumbler. I do have my own blog domain, mauishopgirl.com and my social media links are available on my blog on the right hand side. So nice to meet you!

good_buys_only ohh how exciting to meet a UH alum on Posh! I just graduated this past spring with a double major in Biology and Psychology. I'm in the Master's in Public Health program now starting on the 19th..getting a little nervous but definitely exciting. I love it here in the city but always look forward to going home and relaxing during the holidays also. Are you a shidler alum?

mauishopgirl @michelley808 Good for you & good luck with the Masters! I did graduate from the Business program and then worked for a downtown firm and in Waikiki. Lived mostly on the East side after graduation (Hawaii Kai/Kaimuki). I miss Honolulu a ton to be honest but I don't miss the traffic or having to be so dressed up for work. Enjoy your college time, if I could go back now I would, love going to classes now but I do more creative or tech topics now when I get a chance. Are you Hilo or Kona? I went to the Hilo campus for my first 2 years and my sister graduated from there in organic chem. Used to work at Prince Kuhio Liberty House (I'm that old! It's probably a Macy's now.)

By the way, there is also the Made in Hawaii Festival this weekend. It's where many Hawaii artisans/businesses showcase their products. I used to go every year. The booths usually have good prices too as they are introducing their products to new buyers.

lottenotte I used to live in Maui and Honolulu... miss the islands very much!! They are my first love... we are selling our home now in NC and plan on moving to a coast and HI is one of our picks.... I have been speaking with a realtor at Hawaii Life and he has been sending me home listings but can't seem to get a good grip on schools and housing vs. coming from the mainland.. She had pics of those fringe bathing suits people are selling, and saying they're scammers, and you said it isn't actually scamming. I agree with you, it's not scamming just because it's marked up. brisjul @mauishopgirl i just saw your blog online after googling on "how to trade here" i dont know if you can answer this but.....when you trade do you pay for shipping? because im new here and the girl i traded with is also new and we googled how to trade and set both of our stuff to $0 and just payed shipping. but i read somewhere that you then have to cancel the order and you get refunded for shipping? is that true?

mauishopgirl @brisjul There are no formal posh guidelines on how to trade because posh doesn't recommend it. Most people set their listings to a nominal amount or zero and then "buy" each others' listings and use the posh label to ship. The listing stays up, you ship and when you receive your items, you go into your purchases and click on "accept". Please be careful with trading, you have no recourse if you ship your item and the other person doesn't ship theirs. At the most you'd only get your shipping back and you'd have given away your item for free. I'm also not sure how Poshmark feels about us using their shipping on items with a zero price, they technically can take a loss on those or it could get flagged as suspicious as a possible PayPal transaction. I rarely trade as it's risky.

mauishopgirl @brisjul Oh one more thing, you cannot cancel a buy once you've shipped. Now if you're not using posh to ship but just want to mark the item as "sold" while in transit, then I could see canceling the buy once the trade is done. You could just change your description however too and not do all those steps but again taking anything off posh or trading is not recommended as you won't be protected.

mauishopgirl @sylverarch That was one of the very few times I wrote something on posh and wished I could delete it. I do stand behind everything I said but would usually refrain in the interest of minding my own business but I was "in a mood" that day. So I'm very glad to hear someone got something positive out of it. While we may feel taken advantage of at times, it's not necessarily fraud or criminal or a scam. I don't like it when people are too quick to call someone a scammer. We can definitely feel gross about a transaction or other poshers' methods without them actually committing any fraud. The re-poshing or buying something at say, Ross or the clearance table at Macy's, and then reselling for a profit thing too is often called a fraud but it's not. Once we own something, it's our right to do what we want with it. I don't engage in it because I do feel it doesn't promote trust in the long run and I want buyers to feel good when they purchase from me (& hopefully return!) and people I buy from to continue to work with me and give me good pricing on future purchases. But my goals are to have more space in my home, not run a resale business per se. I think the personal gets mixed up with opportunity sometimes on posh. There are those we know are running a business but when we find out a posher we thought was merely cleaning out her closet is seeking to net a big profit, it can feel very weird & misleading, but it's not criminal. I do find the whole dynamic on Posh fascinating as I think it is a different animal than consignment and some behavior considered rude here wouldn't be in other resale venues so it has it's own etiquette too. sylverarch Yes, I see where you are coming from. I personally don't buy items just for the purpose of reselling for a profit, things I sell are my own that I no longer need, or want. I know that some on here are doing it as a job. That being said, I don't really like when they buy merchandise through wholesale, or a discount store and then resell for a profit, and I don't buy from those sellers, but it's not scamming. There are real scammers out there to look out for, and I think some of the ones selling like that are mislead. But, it's not my business either. It was an interesting read though, and you certainly know what you're talking about! Anyways, thanks for writing back, and have fun poshing! I haven't been selling much lately, so I'm kind of taking a break from posh...I feel like my prices are fair, considering buyers always ask to lower the price, I take that in mind when pricing... mauishopgirl @wenrella Hello and yes I remember you. I love anything "home" so I liked you sharing your house progress. I'm doing much better although they don't know what caused it as my MRIs and other tests came back normal. I did modify my behavior a lot, use a variable kneeling chair at work but limit sitting in general, stretching as the physical therapist showed me and pulled back on volunteering obligations. Work and trying to stay healthy is about all I can handle. I still get crampy twingey legs if I revert back to old habits but much better in general. How are you doing? You went to the hot springs right? I was envious, would like to do that one day.

My sister is chronically ill with back pain and lupus so I feel very grateful for my own moderate situation as I've seen how hard life can be for her. That could be a good trip for her too. I love retail, it's the industry I prefer to work in as I understand and am fascinated by the whole business so I can do my job much better. I use to oversee areas like accounting, HR, inventory control. I'm not so much a luxury goods person in my own personal style but I could definitely appreciate the art of it all.

I was standing on a walking path that runs parallel with the shoreline when I took that shot. It's a public beach with lots of parking and water is incredibly clear. I just spent the morning there today with a friend. If you ever make it, be sure to write to me!

mauishopgirl @aspaoz Yes! We're pretty sure she is a lab pointer mix, adopted her from the humane society. We have a big girl too, a lab heeler mix that's fluffy and like a bear (a cuddly bear). mauishopgirl @elkmomma Hi! So nice to meet another Maui girl! You can use an iPhone app to put text or other cute designs on your photos. You shoot, edit and design your photo in the photo app first, then save it. Then you load from your photos in posh. I like the app Over but it's not free, I think there are a lot of great free options too, if you google you'll probably find bloggers who have written about their favorite apps. I like Over's font choices (I'm a little bit obsessed with fonts!). If you can crop in your photo app, the best crop shape to pick for loading into posh is a square shape. Hope that helps!

mauishopgirl @lovecolor7 Hiya! The best way to get followers is to interact. Follow people, say hi on their "meet the seller" listings and share share share. Just don't ask people to follow you or to check out your closet (that's considered spam), engage in an organic way, the same way you would when meeting someone new. For the symbols, those are emoticons. You can download an emoticon app on your iphone or ipad and then the emoticons are a menu choice in your keypad when you type. If you google emoticons, you can probably find some how to demos online with screen shots. Thanks for stopping by and do let me know if you have any more questions!

mimim Hello, Enjoy read your article "Poshmark da good da bad da urgly...you seams know quite bit about Posh, did you notice the sales are very slow since this summon or it is just me? I also curious about if the database or lis of "my feed" is different from person to person? A database for the suggested posters or inside? Why there were instance thousands lists the second of the party started. It will take me at least a few minutes to load my list one at time, dose thus means some one will be on the database for shown at all time? Just wonder how it really works. If you're receiving congratulatory comments that you have a host pick, that means a host shared your item during a party (the last party of each day has regular poshers hosting as well as posh employees and selecting a handful of items as host picks). It's great exposure as poshers often check out the host picks fees and so it helps gain more followers, likes and shares. To see the host picks feed, go into the last party of that day (it's only the evening party) and click on "host picks". You don't receive any notification from the app that your item it selected so your fellow poshers are letting ya know.

lolos_couture @mauishopgirl Hi Tania! I just read your helpful PM blog post - so very nice to meet you!!! Could I ask you a few posh questions? I am about 5 weeks new to PM... & love it! I have had great success selling, with the exception of a few returns that I am unsure about. I feel like I was clear in my listings what the condition was, yet still received the item not as described notice. I haven't gotten my items back yet and am really hoping they come back to me in the same shape they went out. How long does it normally take to receive the item back, on average? Also, how many IND's can you receive? So far, I have 3 out of 33 total sales. Is this "bad"? Going forward, I am going to be even more specific when I list items, hoping to avoid this. But I was curious if PM has a limit, and then for example, disables your account, even if you listed your item & described it very well & still had a return. I have my fingers crossed one of my returns comes back and hasn't been fraudulently damaged because it is a beautiful 100% silk Milly dress (I should not have listed to begin with bc I love it, I was just addicted to listing everything! Lesson learned :). Thank you in advance for your advice and again, no nice to meet you!

mauishopgirl @lolos_couture Hi Lauren, I don't know what kind of stats PM uses in terms to discipline sellers. If anything it could affect your "suggested user" status which could affect follower numbers and ultimately sales (although buyers can still find you via search. I haven't had a return as a seller yet but the buyer must provide pics and notes before PM approves the return. I would email PM and inquire if there is a way to see the return reason, they take a few day to answer emails but do eventually answer (don't email them repeatedly, just once an wait or it pushes your inquiry down in the que). Email from your sale listing as they need to know which return. Once they approve a return, then the buyer receives a priority shipping label to mail the item back to you, just like we receive when we sell. So less than a week depending on how far they are from you?

mauishopgirl @lolos_couture Oh one more thing, I read through your listings and you seem to be very descriptive. The only I could think of is if there is some flaw not listed. I actually go through my item looking for flaws and list even if I think it wouldn't be a big deal. As a buyer the things I've returned have had big discrepancies though like a broken handle or missing hardware on bags described as new, that kind of thing.

lolos_couture @mauishopgirl On a few things, I said "some minor imperfections" and they buyer said they were overjoyed with the item and simply couldn't wait to have it, and now is claiming it was not clearly represented. So, I'm frustrated bc I don't want my suggested user status to decline when maybe this buyer was simply unimpressed or it didnt fit or whatever reason when they actually received the item. mauishopgirl @wendylue Hi Wendy! I don't buy cosmetics on resale platforms so I wouldn't be able to refer you. I'm too paranoid 😉 and I'm pretty minimal as far as skin and makeup go, use good stuff but don't buy that often. Even my dermatologist prescribed skin care I'll only buy from my doctor. Have seen some scary reviews about counterfeits online so although it's tempting to get it for less I always stick with an authorized seller.
