Colorful and warm illustrations of Merle's journey to the West Coast are coordinated superbly with the tender story of a squirrel who wants to see the giant redwood trees of California for himself. - Children's Book Review Service
In 1937, Bill Peet began his artistic career at Walt Disney Studios. While there, he worked on several feature films including Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, Song of the South, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. He was both an artist and the screenwriter for several films including Cinderella, 101 Dalmatians, and Sword in the Stone. While working at Disney, he also wrote his own children's books and eventually left to become a full-time writer.
This book Features the beautiful artwork of Bill Peet, all done with pencil crayons! Published in 1974. This is a withdrawn Library Copy. It has been much loved. The outside of the spine has torn in 2 spots, one has been taped. The interior of the spine is intact, the book shows wear on all the corners, and is a bit musty smelling as old books can be. This is from my own classroom collection of children's books. This is one of 9 Bill Peet books I have available.
