Mexican sombrero hat, small size vintage, palm fabric, J. Perez Castro No. 5

This lovely decorative Mexican sombrero features horseshoe and guitar motifs. It was likely used as costume in mariachi performances. The head size is small - inner headband measures 20" which would fit a child, possibly a teen. Head opening is 7" x 6". The brim measures 16" across. The hat is made of palm fabric so the crown is firm and not flexible. The hat is decorated with green embroidery, braid ribbon and sequins. There is beaded chin string which may not be original to the hat. The inside of the hat reads: La Sultana de Jalisco, J. Perez Castro No.5, Teocaltiche, Jal, Fabrica de Sombreros de Palma, Suprema Calidad, XXXXX The hat is in good pre-owned condition. There is some wear evident/paint loss to the palm fabric. One guitar has a loose string that could easily be glued down. A great costume or decorative piece!
