...Wedding gift, housewarming gift, vintage bentwood bowls
A high-quality red bentwood set of serving bowls, this set of 3 vintage Japanese mid century modern wooden nesting bowls was made by the Saito Wood co. There is a label underneath the largest of the bowls with 'Nippo Saito'. This company has been in business since the 1940's, but this set is most likely to date from the late 1960s or 1970's, when this clean look was so popular. Great to use as a snack set for movie nights in, parties or family gatherings.
"Founded by Isamu Saito in 1948, Saito Wood Co. is a family-owned and -operated woodworking shop in Kawane, a small town in the Shizuoka prefecture of Japan. Saito served as an engineer in the Japanese army and applied his expertise to producing the highest quality molded plywood products in Japan. Today, three generations later, the company is run by the founder’s grandson, Takuya Saito, and specializes in home and office decor and accessories."
