Mixed faux soap stone pendant with Mex motif

Striking pendant of unknown material but it’s appearance is like a dark soap stone. Bought in Mexico it may well be some local stone but I’m not sure. It is handcrafted by local artist (unknown) and includes genuine silver detailing on the hook. It’s an interesting and well made piece. The hook can accommodate most average size chains or cords.
