Mr. Sponge's Sporting Tour Book

R.S. Surtees — Mr. Sponge’s Sporting Tour (Bradbury & Evans, London, 1860). Illustrated by John Leech with hand-coloured plates. Finely bound in full polished calf with triple gilt borders, gilt dentelles, and marbled endpapers; all edges gilt. Likely a Riviere & Son binding (unmarked). Condition: Very good overall. Some light foxing to plates, and a short surface crack along the front hinge (board remains firmly attached). Interior clean and bright with vivid hand-colouring. A beautiful 19th-century sporting classic in a handsome fine binding.
