'Space for Dreams'
A dreamcatcher made from a braid of sweetgrass (the supply I bought was harvested from and braided on tribal lands). 9" overall counting ties. I used imitation sinew for the webbing, wooden beads, a flint point, and a duck wing feather. Hangs from a leather tie.
The Ojibwe story of the dreamcatcher says that the webbing captures bad dreams and nightmares, while the hole in the center allows the good dreams to pass through and filter down through the feathers to the dreamer below.
Sweetgrass is a sacred medicine representing the hair of the Earth Mother. It is believed to call in good spirits.
I am NOT a Federally-enrolled tribal member, however there is Choctaw on my grandmother's side of the family, and I have been making dreamcatchers since I was a child. :)
