NEW vintage cocktail ring SS Opal trio gold Simple, classic, Minimalist ring featuring a trio of white opals in four claws all set in a rectangular box framework. The only curves are from the ring itself (1x almost 2 mm thick) the white opals (almost 3 mm round, +1-2 mm high), and the “Y” arms (2x5 mm, 1 mm thick) that gently spread out and support the main rectangular box framework (12x6x3 mm). The gold box framework is made of sixteen simple lines within the two upswept wide “Y” arms. The lines on top are twice as thick as the under frame. NEW C. 1970s-1980s. Hallmarks: SS, ?? (opposite sides). Gold tone but Sterling silver. I polished this with a little toothpaste because it was so dark. I’m not sure if the opals are natural or synthetic. The centre Opal is a little bigger, more opaque and reflects more green than the others. The two less opaque reflects green-bright pink-red. A Trio of stones in a ring, with the centre one being the largest, are supposed to represent the past, present (centre), future for a couple. Opals are the birthstone for the month of October according to some lists.
