So I went strawberry blonde and was having to go back abt every 3 weeks so I went to the barbershop and told them to clip my hair abt an 1 inch long all over. No more color and I had gray hair. motherhenalaska My dear, I didn’t realize I was denying that my husband was going to die, and now that he is dead — and I deliberately say dead to drive that truth home — I look back and wish I had done so many things differently. motherhenalaska To answer your questions: my husband was a non-weight-induced diabetic. He took good care of himself, went on home dialysis after kiddies failed. Wait list for him was 7 years bc of his age (66) and blood type (O+), even though he agreed to accept an older kidney. CON’T.

motherhenalaska CON’T. After 3 amputations in 1 month, loss of his swallow reflex, and increasing number of smaller wounds from rough handling (bathing, normal course of treatment after amputation to fit prosthesis), his body simply couldn’t keep up. He came home on hospice and died a week later.

motherhenalaska Bless your heart, my dear. Though he was 12 years older, and our marriage part 1 was none too good (we spent a year separated), he was the love of my life. After our first date I wrote in my diary that he was nice, but there was no spark of the remotest kind, but after 2 weeks when I woke up, the very first thought in my head was, “This is the man I’m going to marry!” I never doubted from that moment on; I knew we were going to get married! He made me wait another 10 months though.

motherhenalaska I knew God’s plans for me were not done bc I am still alive, so I continue day after day doing whatever needs to be done (finishing grad school this semester), but always feeling detached from this life — no anchor to hold me in it; free-floating above it like a balloon, just riding the waves wherever they carry me. If I live as long as my Dad did, I could have nearly 40 years left. That is a l-o-n-g time to be alone, so I leave myself open for the possibility of love again. Cont’.

My love, however, is researching subjects of interest and putting it all together in a paper. motherhenalaska I have been trying to remove the finish from a table and 6 chairs so I can experiment in refinishing them (I’ve done it before; a rocking chair for our first granddaughter, and the kitchen cabinets in our old house in Alaska) but am finding all the spindles on the chairs a real pain. This is going to take a lot longer than I thought. ADHDers always misjudge how long it’s going to take to accomplish simetging🙄

resale4you Ricki, thanks for msg. Sorry to learn of your husband’s condition. 4 yrs ago I had ⬆️ breathlessness. Treated for asthma; worsened. Ejection fraction 20%, damage to bottom of heart, but clear arteries. ‘Unknown virus’ at ‘unknown time’ was responsible! Pacemaker/defib at 55. Still battling breathlessness despite extensive testing. I ‘look good on paper’. Next, CPAP. Fibro 30 years. That muddies waters but I remain hopeful. Will keep you both in my prayers and pray for a miracle on his behalf.
