NWOT - African Shawl/Scarf

I would love to know what country this pattern is likely from (Ethiopia? Ghana?). If anyone knows if there is a cultural aspect to this long, narrow scarf, please let me know. This isn't an expensive quality scarf I don't think, as it's new but flawed and has rough edges. No clue what the fabric is made of (polyester? Nylon? Silk?) But I DO know that it's stunning. My hope is that someone with African Heritage buys this, as I - as a white person - would feel ridiculous sporting this 😉
