Needlepoint Northern Bobwhite

Or is it a grouse? I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and am still not sure of precisely what type of bird this is. Needlepoint with wool yarn. The frame is long gone, but easily replaced, as would be the hardware and backing paper. Something I rescued from my grandmother’s house but it could be happier in another setting. 11” x 13” x .625”
