I've always been drawn to amber and all things ancient. This neckpiece had been living in my mind for what felt like forever, and I finally found the inspiration to bring it to life. It's my favorite piece of jewelry design to date!! Amber is a fossilized resin formed from the sticky, aromatic excretions of ancient trees, particularly conifers and some flowering plants. Over millions of years, this resin filled tree fissures, trapping debris, seeds, leaves, feathers, and insects. As these forests were buried, the resin underwent natural polymerization, hardening into amber. Most amber is estimated to be between 30 and 90 million years old, with some specimens dating back to the late Carboniferous period. The term "amber forest" refers to the ancient forests, particularly in modern-day Scandinavia, where these resin-producing trees once thrived.
