New Vintage Mother of Pearl lidded box Maybe seen in K dramas but this is a rare piece. Black lacquered wood exterior. Design: 2 cranes flying around the sun amidst flowers and vines. Greek key scrollwork border. Burgundy lacquered interior. 5” Brass ashtray with the 12 Chinese Astrology Animals of their Zodiac plus the Chinese word for Good Luck. (Please read comment about alternate use: ink calligraphy) 4x4.5” lidded compartment (cigarettes? Cigars?) 3x2” centre space (lighter?). Note: 2 nicks on that went through the lacquer to the wood (1 outside on lid + 1 inside on burgundy edge). Plus a couple of light scuffs and scratches. New vintage Made in Korea c. 1970s? Genuine mother of pearl, wood, brass.
