In the 1940s, Coro created Norseland, a line of sterling jewelry inspired by the Scandinavian jewelry designs that were gaining in popularity. The Norseland pieces are now collectible themselves!
I have not yet found another example of this particular piece, representing a proud bird - perhaps an egret - taking flight. The open oval frame has a hammered texture. The brooch measures about 1-3/4" X 1-1/4" and is marked Sterling Genuine Norseland with a viking ship symbol, as well as Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. In great condition!
