An antique pair of carriage lamps. They were made in India of brass (possibly copper) and are kerosene or oil lamps. These would have been used on coaches and carriages (and even the earliest automobiles) to light their way and alert other people at night. They still have their wicks; the lamp on the right still has its key to turn the wick though it is missing on the lamp on the left. There is wear especially to the stems which are banged up. They still have their glass and the access doors work. I have to assume that they are from the 19th century as bicycles replaced horses for transportation then motor vehicles pushed out coaches and buggies for deliveries (though my father could remember milk being delivered by a horse cart in 1950s small town Ontario). For reference the lamp on the right is 13" tall and the left is 15 1/4" in height and 4 3/4" square.
