Pair of Doulton Sairey Gamp & Mr. Pickwick -

I am selling a pair of Doulton figurines, one of Sairey Gamp and one of Mr. Pickwick. They are 4" tall and very nicely painted. Samuel Pickwick is a character from the novel "The Pickwick Papers (1836)" by Charles Dickens. Sairey Gamp is a character from the novel "Martin Chuzzlewit (1843-44) by Charles Dickens. Please note that these figurines are simply marked Doulton, not Royal Doulton. The word Royal was added in 1901. There are identification numbers pressed into the bottoms that seem to read 358 & 352. I purchase them a very long time ago as Royal Doultons and they are evidently very old. However they may or may not be authentic. Here is my reasoning... They could be : A prototype not meant for sale A very early version before an official Doulton stamp was established A Doulton 2nds not meant for sale, or, for sale at a lower price An early reproduction. I say early because I've owned them for 40 years, and, no one in their right mind would fake them today because it would probably cost them more than their value to reproduce them.
