Peter Bettley straw feather hat white, size OS

Total width 20" (side to side) but approx 19” in actual space due to curved brim; total width 17” (front to back) but 12” in actual space due to curved brim. This statement hat was purchased in 1990s for my mother, but was never worn. Designed by British milliner Peter Bettley, the body is constructed of straw, embellished with ostrich feather. It has a white band and additional bow at the base of the feather—I’m not sure what the material is, but feels nubby to touch, like raw silk, and feels strong and lustrous. The size and form of this hat is impressive, with its wide swath of brim accented with the ostrich plume and its extraordinarily large crown. The hat has rarely been out of its box, yet in some places on the brim the straw seems slightly snagged—not sure if this is simply natural process for straw weave, or has occurred because of age?
