Petite antique amethyst pin set in sterling

So small, simple and elegant, this pin measures about 1-3/8 inches across. The faceted amethyst is about 1/4 inches across, including the finely detailed frame. I don't know the age of the piece, and I've never seen this kind of clasp, which is a variation on that of a safety pin. There is a mark of 950 or 955, so purer than the sterling silver standard. This is a piece that looks great both because of and in spite of its age - the back of the pin is slightly bent, but this won't be visible when wearing, and if I look under a jeweller's loupe, I can see a couple of superficial scratches on the stone.
