Porcelain Decorative Wall Bowl in Brass Frame "Shouxing", China

Dimensions. Bowl diameter 9 in (23 cm), height approximately 2 in (4.8 cm). Condition. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or scratches. The brass frame has age spots which only add to its charm. Description. Vintage decorative bowl depicting characters from Chinese mythology. A cheerful gray-haired old man with two huge peaches behind his back is Shouxing. A beautiful girl with a tray in her hands is possibly the Immortal Maiden of Magu (but we are not sure). We don't know who the other two characters are. The bowl has a brass frame inserted in such a way that you cannot reach it. There is a special hanger on the back that allows you to hang the bowl like a picture. We were unable to recognize this red marking, although it appears occasionally on the Internet. It is usually dated to the 40s, but to us (to be honest), it seems much later. In any case, on the marking you can see the letters DC and the inscription “Made in China - For decorative use only.” Some interesting information. Shouxing is often depicted in Chinese paintings as an old man with a long white beard and an elongated skull. The peach in his hands is a symbol of longevity. Shouxing embodies health, strength and intelligence in old age. The veneration of Shouxing dates back to the time of one of the emperors with the history of an emperor from the Northern Song Dynasty. The emperor invited such an old man from the street, and then considered this act the reason for his longevity.
