This Pure Silk Vintage wrapper is most likely from the 1940's or 1950's. It is in reasonable vintage condition but there are flaws and damage which I will fully describe. I am listing this garment AS IS because I do not have the skill to restore it properly.
The History of this garment is that it came from an estate sale in the Shaugnessy area of Vancouver. The home belonged to a wealthy family. The patriarch was in the diplomatic foreign service. The woman who owned this garment originally was named Elaine. She spent several decades living abroad with her family when her husband undertook assignments with various United Nations, Canadian, and other international development agencies with postings in Burma (Myanmar), India, East Pakistan (Bangladesh), Malaya (Malaysia), Thailand, Singapore, Switzerland and Austria. It is likely this garment dates from that time or possibly earlier. I researched the property and family background to gather this information.
The outside silk is in good condition with no rips or tears but there is underarm staining as shown in the photos. The Chinese closure also has a little damage but is still functional. The interior lining is silk and the body is in good condition. But again there is significant staining at the underarms and some tearing at the arm holes as well. Shown in photos.
I struggled to price this rare piece. It is a collectors item IMO but I am very open to offers!
