RARE Vtg. THISTLE SALISBURY FINE BONE CHINA Teacup & Saucer 1935 GOLD RIMS
C$45
The hand-painted thistle pattern of this gorgeous cup and saucer set from England is rarely found. The Salisbury markings identify it as being from 1927-1949. Both the cup and saucer are fluted and have scalloped edges, and being fine bone china the porcelain is translucent. The tea cup has an elegant, high handle. It measures 7.6 cm. (3 in.) to the top of the handle, and 6.4 cm. (2-5/8 in.) to the cup’s rim. The widest measurement (to the edge of the handle) is 11.4 cm. (4-1/2 in.). The saucer is 14.3 cm. (5-5/8 in.) diameter, and at its highest is 2.5 cm. (1 in.) above a flat surface. The rims have a heavy gold sponged paint effect. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing but there is a tiny bit of gold loss on the handle, and marks inside the cup from splashed paint, as shown in the final 2 photos.
