Rafael of Canada Brass Necklace

vintage signed Rafael of Canada 1970s large hand hammered brass necklace with a central oval pendant of green Murano glass. Over a half century ago the visionary jewelry designer Rafael Alfandary of Toronto created this iconic necklace / choker with a dark emerald green oval cabochon set Murano glass pendant. Brass fringe dangles hang from the bottom of the pendant. Heavy, well made, and in excellent condition. Rafael was one of the premier jewelers of Modernist style and sold over a million pieces of his jewelry worldwide in the seventies and eighties. Now deceased, his work is still very popular with artists, musicians and celebrities, in fact the singer Prince wore his jewelry to award ceremonies. Alfandary designs were worn by such celebrities as Margaret Trudeau, Lorne Green, Liberace, Muhammad Ali, Redd Foxx and Paul Anka. This piece is done in textured brass with a large bezel set Murano glass jewel. It has eight dangles that hang from the pendant. It is signed: Hand Crafted by Rafael Canada. In very nice vintage condition.
