They knew that private charitable giving has little impact on third-world economies, and that, for better or worse, many are more compelled to spend their hard-earned income on something you can hold instead of something intangibly charitable. And so the seeds of Product (RED) were sewn. The first imprint of the project launched in 2006 with Gap's “Do The (RED) Thing" campaign.
