laurieriales1 @vog I did get a chance to look at your briefcase. I'm sorry, she was correct😔. Your bag was not authentic. I found your info if you would line to read it. Google "coach xxxx". The x would be the last four numbers on the embossed patch. The first post listed is the info for unauthentic bags with that number. I'm so sorry, let me know if I can help you some more😌

laurieriales1 @mommystreasures I looked at your signature bag you sold. I'm sorry you may of felt blindsided. Some people can be very pushy and persistent. In the end, it's your bag. You stand your ground on what you want. If you are unsure about authenticity, take the time to google. Could be the difference between a $10. bag and a $100. bag😔.

laurieriales1 @mommystreasures Continued- In your case, the signature bags came out in 2001. You could of Googled the style# located on the story patch inside your bag to help authenticate. All numbers after 1994 are traceable. It's the earlier bags that are more difficult. In your case, you could've called Coach 1-800 # or even a full price Coach store for info.😌

mommystreasures 🌺🌴🌺. Thank you for that Laurie, the two large Coach bags I had were mine and were real but because of the circumstances with those I took another big hit. I lost $225.00 on that sale and the buyer got a better bag then the $75.00 she bought. On top of that she only gave me a three star rating and the Coach she got was a fantastic bag. laurieriales1 @mimip13 I looked at your Coach bag. This bag is called a Slim Flap. It was in the Hampton Collection. This collection stands out from the rest with a contrasting stitch color. Unlike the Classics raw suede interior, this bag has a liner interior. It is a leather bag, on the story patch it describes it to be a Natural Cowhide Leather. The Classics were known for their Glove Tanned Leather. With that being said, not all leathers are the same and may not be cleaned or treated the same.😊

My sister got me a $250 gift card to Coach, but I dislike all if the new styles and love the classic Soho duffles, bucket backs, drawstring bags....pretty much I love any of the classics😁. laurieriales1 @clag897 I totally understand😊. I worked for Coach for 5 years. I too preferred the Classics over the newer collections. May I suggest you go to Coach.com official site to use the card. They periodically bring a few select "Classic" bags back. Sometimes upwards of 10 bags at a time. Another fabulous buy are the coach watches. Coach watches are made by Movado, which are excellent pieces😉.

samothrce Wow. The before and after pictures you posted are amazing! I bought 3 vintage Coach purses at Goodwill once, and paid less than $25 total for all three. Out of the 3 of them, there is one that I absolutely love, but it's in desperate need of restoration. At the time, I had no idea where to go to have it restored, so it sits in my closet, unused. The good news is that I now know someone who restores vintage Coach purses!! 😊

lorac2015 Hi Laurie, I was wondering if you could take a look at my Vintage Coach bag in my closest, the black flap bag. I'm having trouble finding the collection name. At first I thought it was the Patricia but the rounded flap only goes half way down the bag. It is made in USA and hard to read the #'s in it. Thanks for your time. laurieriales1 @lorac2015 Hi Carol, glad I could help. This is called a Tailored Pouch. Coach had a "Lightweight" Collection inside the Classic Collection. It's 9" x 7 1/2"x 3". Leather lined flap with hidden magnetic closure. Full anchor gusset around the bag. Front pocket and inside zip pocket. Adjustable 44" strap. Most likely late "80s. Hope this helps you😊.

laurieriales1 This bag was introduced in Coaches Spring Preview Catalog 1989. This is dated before Coach went to using the the style # embossed on the patch. At this time it is known as a creed. They didn't start putting the style# on the bags till 1994. I have the catalog this bag was in if you are interested in seeing it. This bag when introduced was available in 9 colors. I know you don't readily see this style. Perhaps they only had it available for a certain amount of time unlike so many other Classics.

I purchased a bag off Ebay today and 2 people on Facebook site, "Vintage Coach Leatherware- Rehabs,rescues,and rarities"looked in their catalog for me and said it was from the Sheridan collection, called the Monticello bag #4226. The only problem is my # is not 4226 but 0883-243.

laurieriales1 @lorac2015 I looked it over and it is good. It is the Monticello bag in the Sheridan Collection. The reason your creed # is so different is because before 1994, Coach used a random serial # on their bags. After 1994, they used a structured format with the style #s. 😊

laurieriales1 @lorac2015 They actually changed the format 1989-1990 to a xxxx-xxx format. So before 1989 it was a xxx-xxxx. 1994, they started the style# format. The Sheridan Collection was only made in US, Italy and Costa Rica. They used a Tan textured lining inside and had the patch sewn in.

laurieriales1 @consigningsis Thank you for reaching out to me for help. Unfortunately after evaluating your bag I'm unable to help you. I do restore the vintage Coach bags. The Collection I work with is the early "Classic Collection". They are the all made with the glove tanned leather leather which requires a totally different treatment than your bag. Not all leathers can be treated the same. 😔 I'm sorry.

lorac2015 The bag was H6H, FROM 96? I was told Coach only put solid brass engraved on their Nyc bags, never on these later bags. So her bag does have engraving on buckle. Also the underscore of the ○ is even w the bottom of the N, again I was told it should be up higher on these later bags. Whats your opinion. It is listed for 28$.

laurieriales1 @forever_young95 Congratulations! I use any brand of mink oil, just use it sparingly. That's great the tag was with it. They are getting harder to find. As far as the chain, the hardware store in the key ctr., the home improvement store where the ceiling fans are or the craft store in the jewelry dept. Make sure it says Solid Brass on the package😊. laurieriales1 @erokeefe17 I'm sorry, I only work on the vintage Coach. The leathers are all different and I would recommend a restorer that specializes in your bag. It will save you a lot of heart ache from getting your bag destroyed 😌.

ssd0331 @ laurieriales1 I have some vintage coach bags in lighter colors. The leather still great condition, especially after using CPR cleaner/conditioner. But water droplets sinks right in to the leather. Although the leather dries without staining, I want the water to bead up on the leather. What do you recommend for a finisher? I've read where some folks use Black rock. Thanks for your advice.

laurieriales1 @dmarz1201 I restore these vintage bags by deep washing, reshape the bag, redye (leather dyes, no acrylic), clean original hardware, moisturize/condition and seal the bag.

thrifted_life Hi! Your bags are gorgeous! My mom gave me her convertible clutch when i was a teenager but i was too scared to use it! Ever since ive been into the classic coach bags. I've been cleaning up a few but I was wondering what you do to restore the bone colored/ cream colored ones? I'm unsure how the clean such a light colored bag!

laurieriales1 @catives Thank you for your comments. The cream/Bone are a little harder to keep clean. You can clean by giving it a bath but if you scrub too hard, you are taking a chance of removing the original dye. If the bag is clean, use sealant like mink oil. It will cond, moisturize and repel against water.😊

laurieriales1 @sagegurl81 When I worked Coach retail, we recommended that you pull the entire liner out, use a mild detergent (baby shampoo), lather soap in the liner and rinse completely with water till clear. Try not to get the bag wet. Dawn can be used if it’s a deep stain. I feel it’s a little strong for the satin and may fade the color. Rubbing alcohol is commonly used for ink but it may make your stain bleed out. 😬

thethriftynesst @laurieriales1 its an older coach baby blue lining. several stains, mostly from age but also from use. A variety. no makeup or candy I dont think. I believe most will come out. Thought I cld at least try. the bag is listed. u cld take a peak. not all stians shown.The bottom of ea section has a slight discoloration frm dirt as well

laurieriales1 @sagegurl81 Oh that sounds easy. I’d definitely use the baby shampoo. Pull out completely, avoid getting the bag wet. I would wash all the satin to prevent uneven spotting. On a light color I’d avoid the blue dawn, it may stain the satin. On mild cleaning, we recommended baby wipes.

laurieriales1 @sagegurl81 I’d be a little concerned about the straw, it being so porous. I would call Coach Corp. 1-800 #. They will ask you the purse #. They have in their system a lookup for every bag. With that info, they can tell you the products recommended specifically for your bag😊. Good luck 😉

I currently can’t change any out because the BT straps I have matched the length required for that style. I have several sources I reach out to when I am needing original parts. susan_inman Hi Laurie thanks for the awesome bags! I also received that navy Broadway Satchel i had shared with you in another listing. You know, it is actually in much better shape than i expected! The edges do not have wear (how is that possible?); the color is good and uniform. The scratches are fairly minimal. The inside looks used, but doesn't look "dirty" to the point i would be grossed out. So I think at this point, i don't think it needs an overhaul. But would you share some advice? see next msg

susan_inman 1. what do you do to clean an inside of a bag that doesn't need a full on tub bath / what do you recommend? It is the unlined suede and some leather parts. 2. how to polish tarnished brass? the little feet on the bottom have some tarnish. but since it is on the bottom, i don't even care that much, but wonder if you have advice. 3. any advice to smooth a zipper that is feeling its age / moves slow? Does it need a spot of oil? i have no idea. your wisdom is appreciated

laurieriales1 @susan_inman Congratulations on your great bag! Having one in nice shape is hard to find. There are two ways I can advise you. 1- you can deep wash it with preferably Blue Dawn liquid detergent and hot water. I like this way because I know for certain I get rid of all the residue of its past is erased. Just imagine your dog getting caught in the rain. Before he went out he seemed fine. Once he is wet, all the smells come out. That’s what the leather is holding for the last 30 + years.

laurieriales1 @susan_inman If you choose to go this way, you have the perfect opportunity to clean the brass before its washed, then you can make sure all the the cleaner is washed off. I like to use Brasso. Clean all the hardware including the zippers. Use a scrub brush while washing to remove all the residue. After you wash, stuff the bag with packing paper to reshape to its original shape. Let air dry. Give it a generous coat of moisturizer (Blackrock moisturizer or Leather Therapy).

laurieriales1 @susan_inman 2- you can just clean the interior with a good vacuuming. What may be hanging on the suede, use good old duct tape to help pick up the finer particles. After, moisturize really good. This should even out the minor scratches and help with the dry corners. I hope this helps you! Have a fabulous trip to Greece! laurieriales1 @susan_inman If you are asking if dunking (washing) all my bags even the Dr. bags, I say definitely yes. I wash all my bags. I don’t necessarily have to dye all my bags. It really just depends on the condition of the bag. For the age of these bags, sometimes the dye is faded or completely worn off.

laurieriales1 @debwes Thank you for asking about my restored Coach Bradley Bag. I restore these vintage Coach Classic bags. They all receive a deep wash to remove all the dirty remnants of the past. Most of the bags I adopt are in poor condition. If the leather is faded or the color worn off from wear, I will redye them. I formulate the colors and match according to its interior suede. I use only dyes made for leather (no acrylics, no paints are used). 😊

laurieriales1 @debwes Yes, I do. This is the only collection that I would consider doing. The Classic collection was made out of Glove Tanned Leather (same leather as baseball gloves). I use different concoctions to break down the stains.

laurieriales1 @thethriftynesst No problem. This is the small Madison Satchel. Made in the earliest plant in NYC. The #s they embossed back then did not include the style#. They didn’t start to display them on the bags until after 1994. This Style # is 9725, if you’d like to google. The smaller size didn’t have a strap. The larger size did.😊

laurieriales1 @thethriftynesst Yes, any of the NYC bags are well sought after. Even though this wasn’t the earliest in the collection it is still a great find. It is a small satchel but if you’d like to use it with a strap, you can use any of the removable straps with the lobster clasp or the dogleash clasp. Clip one end on a front ring and the other on the opposite backside ring😊

laurieriales1 @srfranck2 Hi Sarah. I did have two BT Courts but recently sold both (one on here and one locally). Currently I don’t have any completed or available. I have one that should be coming in any day that is a “Tan”, it’s always unknown until I see it. I am currently working on a Plaza Court (larger and rounded silhouette), and a Black Court. I will let you know what the other bag color is when I receive it.

laurieriales1 @junkster I wash all my vintage bags with soap and water. If it’s dirty dirty I use a good saddle soap. If it’s not too bad use some Dawn soap in warm water. Put a 1/4 cup of vinegar in the water to help eliminate the musty smell. Stuff the bag with paper and air dry for a couple of days😉.

laurieriales1 @junkster If it’s not dirty, I’d pass on the Dawn soap or use very little. The blue dye in the soap may stain the leather being white😬.

junkster @laurieriales1 okay. I figured since it just stinks I would wash just the inside. The outside smells fine. I think they left the stuffing in the bag which attracts dampness and makes smells. I mixed the dawn with water and filled the bag up, scrubbed it a bit and gave it a good rinse, inside and out. She is stuffed with paper and is in my storage room to dry. I think it is going to work. 🙃 Thanks again for your help.

laurieriales1 @nannysmom Thank you for the interest in my bags. I purchase the vintage Classic Coach bags and restore them. They all get deep washed to remove the smells of the past. The hardware is cleaned, the bag reshaped and conditioned. If they need redyed, I use a leather dye, no acrylics are used. I currently do not have any Baxter’s.

laurieriales1 @siestakey3beach Thank you!A conditioner is a must. This leather is exactly what it describes. This leather is used for baseball gloves. The most durable of the leathers. There’s a lot of advice given for repelling. I am only telling you what I like. I use mink oil. Use sparingly and in circular motions for even absorption. It’s a cond., moisturizer and repellent in one. Wont harm your stitching. The color evens out once it’s completely absorbed. This is MY preference, others may say different.

laurieriales1 @siestakey3beach No problem😊. Feel free to read my ‘Love Notes’ written from my buyers. FYI, the toggles started from Coach’s early designer, Bonnie Cashin. She was inspired by the toggles on the convertible top of her sports car. That discovery was in the late 70s and is still presently used in Coach’s current collections😊.

renlyn1366 Good morning. I truly love your closet and what you do with your bags. I have a Rehab question for you. I have a Hamilton pebble leather in petal/white that I have cleaned up to sell however, I used products that I should not have and now It's very bright and clean but now feels like tacky Rubber. Any suggestions?? I would be ever so appreciative. I am re-washing now with just dish soap and water, but think I need to soak it to release the other chemicals. 😿

laurieriales1 @renlyn1366 Oh, I’m sorry. I would use a very mild soap. Even baby shampoo may be gentle enough. After air dry, moisturize very well. Make sure theres no color in the moisturizer, it being a light bag. It may transfuse to the leather. I think mink oil is a good choice. It’s easy to use and puts a repellent on the bag. It being a light bag it would be beneficial. You use it sparingly😊

I’ll have to make a trip to locate those items as I only have very light dish soap, and coach moisturizer and I washed it twice and let it air dry but still finding tacky so and unfortunately I’ve already listed it and there are offers so I’m in trouble. laurieriales1 @lorac2015 I totally understand. The health department put out strict rules. Only 5 stylists at a time with one customer each. We have to take their temps and ask a series of questions. Both stylist and customer has to wear a mask at all times😷

laurieriales1 @berrypeaches I’m so glad you finally received your bag! I use mink oil. It comes in a round tin like a wax (not a liquid). You can purchase from shoe stores or a sporting goods store. Use very very sparingly. Wipe and buff in with a cotton cloth. This will condition, moisturize, and help repel water stains😉. I hope you enjoy your new bag.
