Riverworld DVD 2004 Universal Science Fiction

The Afterlife: An American astronaut named Jeff Hale is killed in a space shuttle accident in 2009. He, along with billions of others who have ever lived on Earth, is resurrected on the banks of a massive, seemingly endless river on an alien planet—dubbed Riverworld. Everyone is reborn in their physical prime and can understand a universal language. A New Existence: The resurrected people emerge nude from the water, finding metal canisters containing simple, unisex clothing. Food is provided by strange "grail" devices on the riverbanks. Conflict and Quest: Hale soon encounters others from various historical periods, including the Roman Emperor Nero (Lucius Domitus Ahenobarbus) and the writer Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). The peaceful new world is quickly marred by conflict, as a warlord takes control. Hale joins a group of allies, including Alice Liddell Hargreaves, a former slave, and an alien, to fight Nero. The Riverboat: Clemens has built a riverboat, and the group's ultimate goal is to seize it and travel upriver to find the source and the mysterious beings—known as "Ethicals" or "Caretakers"—who created this bizarre afterlife and discover its true purpose.
