The body of the vase is stoneware and is hand decorated with an intricate design in hazelnut brown and butter yellow. Sunflower Design. The vase is stamped to the base Royal Copenhagen, Fajence with the edition number 723/3208 and the artists monogram. The vase is bottle-shaped with a highly textured surface in earthy cream and brown tones, featuring bold geometric and floral-inspired motifs. Height: 4.75” Width: 1.75” Diameter Opening: 1.25” Depth: 1.75” Nils Johan Thorvald Thorsson (1898 – 1975) Ceramic artist and designer for Royal Copenhagen – Aluminia. Nils joined Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice in 1912, and graduated from the royal Danish Academy in 1917. He went on to become Royal Copenhagen’s most prolific designer. He was Artistic director at Royal Copenhagen from 1949 while also artistic director of Aluminia also from 1928-1969. Nils designed at least 5 of the best known production ranges for Royal Copenhagen Aluminia In 1882, the owners of Aluminia purchased Royal Copenhagen factory.
