Here is a pair (2) of Royal Crown Derby Blue Mikado 10 1/2 inch dinner plates.
These lovely blue and white chinoiserie plates are post World War 2 production and slightly larger than the other dinner plates I have listed. The back stamps on these plates mark them as produced in 1954.
The Royal Crown Derby Blue Mikado pattern, designed by Thomas Amos Reed in the 1890s, is a blue and white oriental-inspired design based on Japanese ceramics and rice paper drawings. The pattern features intricate scenes like a "wandering sad-eyed lover," "flights of cranes," and pagodas, which were inspired by folk tales and the popular "Mikado" opera, and has been in production with variations from around 1925 to 2019.
They are hand decorated and finished with 22kt gold paint around the scalloped rim.
These 2 plates are in good condition for their age with no chips, cracks, colour loss, gold loss, or other signs of repair. They do show mild utensil marks, light discolouration, and very fine crazing in the glaze so are priced accordingly.
