Royal Crown Derby "Dappled Quail" bone china paperweight figurine. This is a version of the Quail which was one of the original 6 birds and rabbit paperweights released in 1981. The dappled quail was released in 2000 and retired in 2002 and is hand decorated with 22kt gold. I have 2 available and both are first quality pieces with the gold stoppers in excellent condition. One is dated 2000 and the other is from the first release in 1999. Royal Crown Derby launched its first animal paperweights in a range of five birds and a rabbit at Chatsworth House in 1981. The creatures were beautifully sculpted by Robert Jefferson of Poole pottery fame, before being hand-decorated with the firm’s signature Imari pattern and highlighted with 22 carat gold.
