Royal Crown Derby Dolphin Paperweight 1987. Missing Stopper.

This Royal Crown Derby Dolphin paperweight is marked 1987, the initial year of production for this pattern which was then retired in 1993. It is a stunning image of a dolphin diving over a curling wave in deep royal blue with 22kt gold throughout. Sadly this lovely figurine is missing its gold stopper and has a small flea bite chip on the right fluke on its tail (pictured). The chip is not noticeable unless you look from underneath. This would make a great addition to any collection at a very reasonable price. Royal Crown Derby launched its first animal paperweights in a range of five birds and a rabbit at Chatsworth House in 1981. The creatures were beautifully sculpted by Robert Jefferson of Poole pottery fame, before being hand-decorated with the firm’s signature Imari pattern and highlighted with 22 carat gold.
