Royal Crown Derby Owl Bone China Paperweight Figurine. Silver Stopper.

One of the first six paperweights Royal Crown Derby introduced in September 1981 at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. Design based loosely on a terracotta owl originating from Corinth in the 7th century BC. This Owl is dated 1991 and has a silver stopper indicating second quality but I don't see any flaws and it is in excellent condition. This design was retired in 1992. Royal Crown Derby launched its first animal paperweights in a range of five birds and a rabbit at Chatsworth House in 1981. The creatures were beautifully sculpted by Robert Jefferson of Poole pottery fame, before being hand-decorated with the firm’s signature Imari pattern and highlighted with 22 carat gold.
