For Royal Crown Derby China collectors looking to add to their vintage set or start a new collection, here is a true gem!
The Olde Avesbury pattern comes from an original pattern book noted as 1932 and housed in the Royal Crown Derby archives. The design itself is one of the most popular and has been adapted from an embroidery pattern by painter, Albert Gregory.
Olde Avesbury design is a celebration of birds and flowers, combining the natural and the exotic in one beautiful motif.
These settings are the Red Aves colour way which is an orangey red with hand painted 22kt gold trim.
There are 2 settings available and each setting is 5 pieces with every piece marked XXX or XXXI which indicates production in 1967/1968. Most likely purchased in Vancouver, BC.
10 1/2" or 27cm dinner plate
8 3/8" or 21cm salad plate
6 1/4" or 16cm side plate
Footed tea cup 220ml
5 3/4" or 14cm saucer
This was a beloved and treasured set and was used on special occasions so you will not very slight loss of gold on the hand painted rim. Otherwise these pieces are close to immaculate with very very slight utensil marks, no chips, cracks, crazing or signs of repair.
