S. Sternau & Co. Nickel Oil-Lamp Filler - All Original Please note: there is a dent best seen on picture 8. This beautiful ornate item is an antique oil lamp filler. It would have been used for topping off old oil and kerosene lamps. The domed lid on the top unscrews to fill the bowl. A chain is attached to the spout and there is a small cap attached to a chain to keep the spout covered when it’s not being used. The small plunger toward the front of the handle is depressed to allow air into the chamber while pouring out of the spout. The bottom it is marked: S.STERNAU & CO. – Pat’d May 12 ‘96.
