This is a very early edition of the German language book "Georg Und Die Zwischenfalle" by Erich Kastner, edited with notes and vocabulary by H. J. B. Wanstall, and published by George G. Harrap & Co as part of their Harrap's Modern Language Series in 1941. This was when the author was still banned from publishing in Germany by the National Socialists. It has 151 pages, the last of which is Notes and a Vocabulary list. It has an inscription and signature by the editor, H. J. B. Wanstall.
Georg Und Die Zwischenfalle is the original title of the book (translation: George and the incidents). Later it was published under the title "Der kleine Granzverkehr" (The Little Border Traffic). It is the humorous story of a German writer who travels to Austria for the Salzburg festival without enough money for the trip due to strict exchange regulations and his subsequent adventures.
It is in very good condition. There are wear and bumped corners on the cover and spine. The pages are very clean save for yellowing on the endpapers and an inscription inside the front cover. The binding is solid. Please see the photos.
