Titled "Maisons" is a 2016 painter's knife study where the facade and roof of each "house" is painted with a painters knife. The scene depicts both melting snow and leaves on trees, a reminder of the exceptionnal seasonal weather patterns. The choice of a wooden canvas determined how the smooth texture of the facades were achieved in contrast with roof tiles, snow and trees. The canvas material is also an echo of the construction material of Newfoundland houses.
