SylvaC rare creamer and sugar bowl set, powder blue. This set was made by SylvaC Art Pottery, in England, during the 1940s to 1950s. Crafted in the 1698 pattern, with its art nouveau style, they feature an embossed design of leaves and vines in powder blue.
Post 1937, SylvaC began using a more distinctive back mark, which usually included the model number and, post 1938, the SylvaC brand name, thus making SylvaC pieces considerably easier to identify and value. The script impressed mark on these pieces dates to 1940s/50s.
The sugar bowl measures approximately 4" across (not including the little handles) x 2.25" high and the creamer measures approximately 3" high x 5.5" including the handle and spout.
This is a beautiful vintage set with some light crazing to the bottom of each piece, but not noticeable. This is expected with the age of the pieces. There is no lid for the sugar bowl, but it is still very functional.
Perfect addition to any collection!
The business was founded in 1894, at the Drury Works, Normacot Road, by William Shaw and his uncle William Copestake. SylvaC is a brand of British ornamental pottery.
